Biography

Andrew Connors

I’m a film and media artist living in Whitehorse, Yukon. I finished my first fiction film this year, a novella history/mystery of sorts. A distillation of my fascination with the Keno Hill mining region, Artifacts is a companion piece to the experimental live performance documentary I’ve been presenting across Canada with Yukon singer-songwriter, Kim Barlow called luckyburden: songs + film.

In 2002, I directed and co-wrote the social documentary, Shipyards Lament, for CBC Newsworld. The film won the best film ‘Made in the Yukon’ award at the 2002 Dawson City International Short Film Festival and screened at my favourite film festival, the Tromsø International in Norway. Then there’s the documentaries about artists- Hands, Head, Heart (1998) and Facing Miles Canyon (2004) which can be seen sometimes on Bravo! Television in Canada.

I also help other filmmakers make their films. Recently, I was the picture editor for a Bravofact! short film,Last Stop for Miles (Clara + Celia McBride), picture editor for a National Film Board of Canada film, How People Got Fire (Daniel Janke) and cinematographer on a documentary for APTN, Land Unlocked (Sam Singh).
